Day 5 of Run It Up Reno can be summed up with one name. Nathan Manuel.
Manuel won the $86 Moneymaker spectacular and fulfilled his year-long poker goal of winning a Platinum Pass. Over a nearly 14-hour day, Manuel bested the massive 825-entry field to secure the $30,000 package into the PokerStars Players Championship.
Manuel made it his mission to get into the $25,000 buy-in event in the Bahamas this January. He played in tournaments all over the globe just to have the opportunity to win a pass and he was a finalist in Jaime Staples’ Ultimate Sweat competition. He missed out on those opportunities, but in poetic fashion, the long-time RIU warrior that’s been at every installment of RIU Reno took achieved his goal here in Reno.
For just $86 and a chance at winning one of the two Platinum Passes at Run It Up, the room was filled from wall to wall with players full of dreams at taking their seat at the PSPC. While it took most of the attention and was watched by thousands on the live stream at RunItUp.tv, it wasn’t the only trophy awarded that day.
British pro Adam Owen won his first RIU trophy in his first-ever RIU Reno in the $125 win the button event. He defeated Dylan Hortin heads-up to take home $5,195 in a heads-up deal.

After the scavenger hunt yesterday, Tuesday’s social event was a cash game hangout at 8 p.m. Looking ahead to Wednesday, there are two more trophy events. There is a $235 six-max 8-game that starts at noon and will be streamed on Twitch at RunItUp.tv and there is a $125 with $50 rebuys all in or fold event.
Wednesday’s festivities are centered around exactly that. Festivities. There are two social events on the schedule. The ‘Rob Has a Podcast’ Survivor Watch party is at 8 p.m. and there is a karaoke party at EDGE nightclub at 10:30 p.m.
