Monday was the calm before the storm at Run It Up Reno. It was the day after one of the busiest days on the schedule and the day before one of the most anticipated events on the schedule – the $86 Moneymaker Spectacular.

Even with a slightly lighter schedule, there was still plenty of poker to be played on Day 4 of the series with the $235 no-limit hold’em six-max triple shootout and the $125 Taiwanese poker.

The shootout kicked off at noon and drew 186 entries. With the shootout format, you needed to win your first table to make the money and you needed to win your second table to secure a seat at the final table. Jason Burruss was the lucky player to win all three of his tables and walk away with the $10,000 first place money.

Burruss defeated a final table that featured Team RIU streamer Fintan Hand and Brian Sherrier, who was at his second final table in as many days after winning the partner event on Sunday night. In front of a live stream audience of over 2,000, Burruss went heads-up with George Geros, who he defeated to earn the victory.

The ever-growing in popularity Taiwanese poker tournament kicked off at 5 p.m. The $125 buy-in drew 191 entries. In the end, it came down to two prominent members of the RIU family. Nadia Wanzi went heads-up with Team RIU streamer Ben ‘Spraggy’ Spragg.

Wanzi came to her first RIU Reno last Spring and was hooked. She loved everything about the series and made tons of fans. Even making the trip to Reno all the way from the Netherlands, she still had a bigger rail rooting for her than Spraggy did for him. According to Wanzi, despite the distance from home, she doesn’t plan on every missing an RIU stop.

Other notables to cash this event include Chris Moneymaker, Jason Somerville, Lex Velduis and Jon Turner. There is another Taiwanese hold’em event towards the end of the series, but it is the double board variant of the game.

Tuesday will be a wild day in the tournament area with the Moneymaker Spectacular. It’s one of two ways you can win a Platinum Pass at RIU Reno. The only other way is by winning the Platinum Pass freeroll invitational on the last day of the series.

The $86 buy-in kicks off at 10 a.m. and will be live streamed all day long. Cards get in the air at 10 a.m., but it will start on a three-hour delay at 1 p.m. PT/4 p.m. ET. With a $30,000 package on the line along with the prize money, this is expected to have a massive field.
