$235 8-Game
Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo
With 26 players remaining in the $235 8-Game Championship and 18 players finishing in the money, the money bubble is rapidly approaching. Andrew Barber is arguably the most accomplished mixed game player left in the field and is the biggest stack remaining as well.
In seven card stud hi-lo, he bets the river with his board showing [4c][5d][4h][Qs] and his opponent calls. Barber shows the [4s] first and then follows it with the [Ts] and the [3s].
“You got trip fours?” asks his opponent.
Barber nods his head and his opponent mucks her hand.
“Stupid two pair made me call,” she said after the hand.
Barber won a bracelet in the $10,000 HORSE event at the 2015 World Series of Poker and is a fixture in the mixed games community. One of the few blank spots on his mixed game resume – a RIU cash.
With about a 180,000-chip stack, he’s far and away the chip leader and the Northern California pro is nearly a lock to get his first RIU cash.
