Event 2: $125 No-Limit Hold’em All In or Fold
As expected, the chips are flying in the $125 no-limit hold’em all in or fold event. It was a battle of twitch streamers early on with Jason Somerville doubling through Jeff Gross. Gross moved all in from the cutoff and Somerville called out of the small blind.
Gross had Somerville barely covered, but Somerville had the best hand with his [As][Kd] up against Gross’ [Ad][4d]. The board ran out [Qs][9h][7s][6h][6d] and Somerville doubled through Gross in the first level of the tournament.
The host of the entire series is off to a good start and is no stranger to success at his own series. His last eight live tournament cashes all came in Run It Up Events, including five final tables and a fifth place finish in last year’s spring series main event for $19,313.
Gross is another successful high-stakes pro with several million in live tournament earnings. Over the last few years, he began streaming online play on Twitch on “Flows Poker Show,” which only elevated his popularity among the poker community.
With $50 rebuys for another several levels, it’s doubtful that either Gross or Somerville will be completely ousted from the tournament for a while longer.
