Originally from Connecticut, Stephen Song is now living in New Jersey and is part of the poker group ”Young Wizards.” At only 23 years old, he is already crushing in the poker world. His journey started thanks to his dad, who taught him the game when he was really young. Soon after starting out his college life, he decided to take a break to pursue his true passion, a decision that might have changed his life forever. We’ve spotted him in the field and were lucky enough to get to chat with him on break.

”I’ve been playing ever since I was really young. My dad taught me when I was really young. Then, I was playing with my friends in school. I ended up taking a break from college, and just trying it out online. Found some success and met some cool friends. For the time being, that’s what I’m doing for a living. I was taking some classes, and then this year, I’m kind of just taking a break, and focusing mainly on poker.

At 23 years old, Song already has over $700,000 in live earnings on his poker resume and this is only the beginning of his journey. At his second time ever at the WSOP in Vegas, last summer, he locked down multiple cashes, including two deep runs : a final table (7th place finish), and a 11th place finish, a goal many players dream to reach.

”I’ve been pretty fortunate. I’ve ran good in certain spots. Both in poker, and in meeting certain people at the right time.”

What is sure is that Song is doing something right and that there’s much more than luck to it, as he crushes everywhere he goes. He just came from the WSOPC Hammond, at which he locked multiple cashes, including a second place in the $5,300 High Roller for $73,539, and a third place in the $1,125 for $20,419.

”That was pretty sweet. I also cashed another event there. It was pretty good. Definitely not the worst trip. Definitely can’t complain about run good for the next couple of trips.”

Lastly, we asked him what was his first impression of Run It Up as it is his first time here, and here is what he had to say:

”Everyone is really friendly, really cool. I got to meet some people that I wanted to meet. I used to watch Twitch streams all the time while I was starting off. I haven’t had much time to watch as much content now cause I’m busy playing most of the time. But I used to watch all of these guys: Kevin Martin, Jaime Staples…so it’s pretty good to get to see them in person.”
