It’s that time of the year again. Most of Team Run It Up is either already back in Reno or will be at the Peppermill Resort and Casino very shortly for the start of Run It Up Reno VII.

After about a six-month layoff since the Spring edition of Run It Up Reno, Friday marks the start of the 11-day poker festival with two trophies up for grabs and what has become the stop’s signature Turkey Burger Welcome Party.

Cards get in the air at 11 a.m. with the start of the $235 turbo no-limit hold’em. Aside from the money, the victory, a seat into the Platinum Pass freeroll, and the lifelong glory that comes from an RIU trophy, they will be playing for a little something more.

This event will be adding four seats to the $440 Mini Main Event to the prize pool. The top four finishers of the opening event will earn a seat in the Mini Main Event, which starts on Saturday. Here are the details for the first event of the series:

  • Players begin with 12,000 in tournament chips
  • Blinds start at 100/100 with a 100 ante
  • This is a big blind ante event. The ante will be reduced to the size of the small blind when the table is four-handed or less
  • Levels are 15-minutes in length for the duration of the tournament
  • Approximately 16% of the field will finish in the money
  • There are 10-minute breaks after every two hours of play
  • Unlimited re-entries and late registration is open until the start of level 9 (~1:10 p.m.)
  • In case of a chop, the Mini Main Event seats will go to the top four stacks

Just before registration closes in the turbo, cards get in the air for a main event satellite. That’s the only poker that will be played before the Turkey Burger Welcome Party. The party starts at 5 p.m. and will feature, well, turkey burgers, obviously.

It’s tradition at RIU Reno that the series celebrates its start with a buffet full of turkey burgers and all of the possible fixings that you could want on your burger. As well as some adult beverages at the cash bar.

With everybody’s stomach’s full, the final event of the day kicks off at at 7 p.m. The $160 with $50 rebuys ALL IN for Childhood Cancer Charity event is the final event of the day. After the single-day charity event wraps up, so does the first day of one of the most enjoyable series on the poker calendar.
