Everybody wants to be a high roller. Play in poker tournaments with some of the biggest buy-ins on the planet, battle wits with some of the games best and have a chance at taking home a seven-figure payday.

By now, you’ve heard about the PokerStars Players Championship – the $25,000 no-limit hold’em event taking place this January at the Atlantis in the Bahamas. Everybody that’s ever touched a poker chip is dreaming about getting their hands on one of the PokerStars Platinum Passes. It’s their golden ticket into what will be the biggest $25,000 event in poker history.

There are countless ways to get a hold of one of the more than 300 passes being awarded throughout the year, but if you haven’t been one of the lucky players to secure a seat in the tournament, don’t fear. By the end of Run It Up Reno, there will be two RIU warriors with $30,000 packages.

In short, there are two ways to earn one. There is one added to the $86 Moneymaker Spectacular and there is another to be earned in the Platinum Pass freeroll event at the end of the series. If you aren’t lucky enough to take down the Moneymaker Spectacular on Tuesday, October 23rd, you’re going to need to qualify for the freeroll.

How do you qualify for the freeroll? I’m glad you asked. There are plenty of ways to get a seat into the Monday, October 29 freeroll event.

At previous Run It Up Reno’s, there was a last-longer competition in every event. The last player standing wearing RIU gear would get a seat into the main event. This year, that last-longer is still taking place, but instead of a Main Event seat, that player earns a spot in the freeroll. You must be wearing RIU gear by the time the money bubble bursts.

If you’ve ever won a RIU Reno gold trophy event, you’re automatically eligible to register. It doesn’t matter when you won it. Whether it’s the last event on the schedule before the freeroll, the $125 no-limit three-card super hold’em, or you won a ‘Win the Button’ tournament four years ago, you still have the option to register for the event.

Not everything is tied to your performance on the felt, however. There are several ways to get in that don’t involve even sitting at a poker table. Whoever wears the funniest costume in our Partner Event will get a seat as well. Choose your outfit wisely before heading down for the October 21 event.

For those poker players who also have hopes of being the next American Idol, they’re in luck as well. The best performance at the Karaoke Party at Edge Nightclub on October 24 will get a seat into the freeroll.

If you need to buy some gear for the last longer, that will also give you an extra shot at winning your way into the freeroll. For every $25 or more purchase at the RIU store during the ALL IN for Childhood Cancer Charity Event, you will receive a raffle ticket for a drawing that could land you into the freeroll. Raffle tickets can also be purchased separately, and we will raffle off five winners before the end of the Charity event.

One of the social events is specifically geared towards getting into it. At 7 p.m. on Monday, October 22, there is a Platinum Pass scavenger hunt that will award three seats into the freeroll.

Getting into the freeroll is just the first step. Then you need to win the tournament to leave Reno with one of the two guaranteed seats into the PSPC.

The Platinum Pass is a $30,000 package that includes the $25,000 buy-in, six nights of accommodations at the Atlantis, $2,000 in food and beverage credit and travel to the Bahamas.
