$125 HORSE
It’s the second level of the HORSE event and there are already 104 entries, which breaks the $10,000 guaranteed prize pool on the event. Among the 104 entries is Daniel Jones, a Texas native who is making his first appearance at a Run It Up event.
“It’s my first time here,” said Jones before taking part in a hand of seven card stud. “I wanted to come have some fun.”
On sixth street, Jones is heads-up in a seven card stud pot with the boards looking like this:
Jones: [x][x]/ [8d][Kc][8h][6c]
Opponent: [x][x]/ [Qs][8s][3s][Kh]
Jones is showing a pair of eights and has the lead. He checks and his opponent bets. He calls and the river is dealt face-down. Jones checks again, his opponent bets and he raises. His opponent folds and Jones takes the pot.
Jones is here to enjoy himself and have fun, but he’s no stranger to success in higher stakes events. He made his mark on the poker world last January. He won the Casino Champion title at the WSOP Circuit event in Choctaw after running off four cashes and two runner-up finishes for over $141,000 in just two weeks.
All of his recent cashes were in no-limit hold’em. In Reno, he’s branching out and learning some new games while enjoying some laughs with the rest of his table.
