After a lengthy heads-up battle between Pete Mall and a bare-chested Yale Van, Mall prevailed to take down his second piece of RIU gold after taking down the Thursday Thrilla last night. This is also just the second live recorded win of his career. Mall takes home $2,660, another gold trophy and his second Last RIU Warrior standing Main Event seat.

Van came in to the final table as the chip leader and made his way to heads-up play fairly easily. Aaron Schoch booked yet another cash, eventually finishing in 4th place, and Arthur Goldtz spun his micro stack up to finish in 3rd place. Van and Mall traded the chip lead numerous times and chopped the pot up a ton as well.

In the final hand playing Omaha 8, on a board reading [th9s4cad5s], Van got his last few chips in the middle and Mall called. Van tabled [ts8c7s6c] for a pair of tens and a seven-six low, but Mall showed a pair of aces and a seven-five low to scoop the pot and win the tournament! Van pocketed $1,720 for his deep run today.

Mall has only been in Reno for two days and has played three tournaments already, making the final table in all of them and booking two wins. He came in 5th place in the Partner Event with Eric Goldstein, and won the Thursday Thrilla for his first trophy.
